*** How to Vote for the Pet of Your Choice ***
- Each vote is $.25 cents
- You can purchase votes on the contest web site but you must be registered to do so. Once you are registered (or if you already are) you can purchase votes from the choices offered and charge the amount to a credit card
- After purchasing votes you need to then ‘apply’ the votes to the pet or pets of your choice. You will need the Pet ID number from the printed section, or the contest web site by viewing the gallery.
- You can also use the voting ballot which will be in the special section included inside the Oct. 22 newspaper (in both The News Tribune and The Olympian) to vote and mail that to the address on the ballot.
- There will also be voting ballots in both The News Tribune and The Olympian every day from Oct. 22 through Nov. 11.
- You can also call 253-597-8791 or toll free at 800-955-8742, ext. 8791, and use a credit card. This can be done by friends or family who wish to vote but decide to not register on the contest web site.
*Pet with most votes wins $500;
2nd place pet wins $300; 3rd place pet wins $200.
Funds raised from the Pet Pix Contest will go to support the efforts of The News Tribune's and The Olympian's NIE Literacy Fund.
Entries accepted Sept 12 - Oct 7, 2011. All entries published in special section of The News Tribune on Saturday, Oct 22, 2011. Voting at 25¢ per vote will determine top three winners.
Voting period will be from Oct 22 - Nov 12, 2011
Pet Pix – what the money raised goes towards: Money raised from entries and voting for the Pet Pix Photo Contest supports the Newspapers in Education (NIE) Literacy Fund at both The News Tribune and The Olympian. This fund helps support the NIE Program which assists today’s educators in their mission to form tomorrow’s lifelong learners. NIE is a cooperative effort of The News Tribune and The Olympian, working with local schools, to use the newspaper as an educational tool in the classroom. NIE is dedicated to promoting literacy, increasing societal awareness and raising the level of media message comprehension among students of all ages.
